Former NHL player and New York Rangers icon Ron Duguay has died at the age of 69 following a battle with stage 4 colon cancer. His death was confirmed by his family and his longtime partner, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Duguay was a prominent figure in the NHL during the late 1970s and 1980s, known for his skill, charisma, and signature flowing hair. He was drafted 13th overall by the Rangers in 1977 and played a key role in helping the team reach the 1979 Stanley Cup Finals. Over his career, he played for several teams, including the Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Los Angeles Kings, totaling 864 regular-season games.

Beyond the ice, Duguay was a pop-culture figure, appearing in commercials and working as a television analyst for the MSG Network. The New York Rangers organization released a statement mourning the loss of “one of the most popular players in franchise history,” noting that his tenacity and style earned him the admiration of New York fans.
