Ronald Koeman resigns as Netherlands coach after World Cup loss to Morocco
Ronald Koeman announced his resignation as head coach of the Netherlands national football team following the country's elimination from the 2026 World Cup. The Dutch side lost to Morocco on penalties in the round of 32, ending their tournament run.
Koeman, who took charge in 2023 and previously managed the team from 2018‑2020, highlighted his gratitude for his career, mentioning his past roles at Ajax, Barcelona and other clubs. He expressed disappointment at the early exit but said he looks forward to spending more time with his family. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) will now begin the search for a new manager to lead the team in upcoming competitions.
