Ronaldo Caiado selects Gilberto Kassab as vice‑presidential running mate

Former Goiás governor and PSD pre‑candidate Ronaldo Caiado announced on July 1 in Brasília that Gilberto Kassab, the party’s national president and former mayor of São Paulo, will be his vice‑presidential candidate. Caiado stressed that the vice‑president role is not merely symbolic, saying Kassab brings experience, political articulation and courage to govern together.

Kassab affirmed the viability of Caiado’s candidacy, noting it will contest votes with Senator Flávio Bolsonaro and positioning the ticket as a broad centre‑right alternative. He reiterated the PSD’s centrist profile and pledged to continue leading the party while building alliances for the campaign. The announcement comes ahead of the party conventions scheduled for July 20, with the PSD currently without formal electoral alliances.
