Ronaldo Caiado calls for Brazil to boost energy and fertilizer production and warns against political polarization

Presidential pre‑candidate Ronaldo Caiado said Brazil must invest in strategic sectors such as energy, fertilizers and critical minerals to lessen reliance on external shocks, particularly the Strait of Hormuz. He noted that Brazil imports about 85 % of its nitrogen fertilizers despite vast domestic reserves of potassium and phosphorus, urging a policy shift toward innovation and greater mineral exploitation.

Caiado also criticised the current government’s handling of the economy and highlighted Brazil’s vulnerability to global price volatility. On the political front, he described the upcoming election as a “revenge game” between President Lula and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, positioning himself as a third‑way alternative and noting his third‑place poll standing. He denounced attempts by Bolsonaro’s camp to postpone U.S. tariffs on Brazilian products and said he would sign a bill that defines treason for acts he deems betrayals of the nation. He also said his campaign will respect the circumstances of each state regarding allies such as Eduardo Paes.

Additionally, Caiado praised the role of women in families, arguing that they hold greater influence than men in household decisions.
