Roosendaal: Fake police officer steals jewelry from elderly woman

An 84-year-old woman in Roosendaal was targeted by a fake police officer during a theft on May 18, 2026. The perpetrator contacted the victim by phone, claiming to be a police officer warning of increased burglaries in the area. The caller stated a colleague would visit to take photographs of her jewelry for security purposes.

Shortly after the call, a man arrived at the victim's home on Doctor Schaepmanlaan. Believing the man was a police colleague, the woman allowed him entry. While the woman remained on the phone with the caller, the man photographed her jewelry and requested to inspect the home's locks and security. The suspect fled the scene with all the jewelry.

Police have released a description of the suspect, describing him as a light-skinned man approximately 30 years old, 175 centimeters tall, with black curly hair and a beard. He was seen wearing a dark jacket, light blue jeans, and black-and-gray sneakers. Authorities are seeking public assistance and tips regarding the incident.
