Roraima electoral processes face legal challenges and registration reviews

The electoral landscape in Roraima is facing legal scrutiny as the Regional Electoral Court (TRE-RR) continues to process 394 registration requests for various offices, including governor, senator, and deputies. As of now, none of the five candidates for governor—Arthur Henrique (PL), Soldado Sampaio (Republicanos), Clébio Genuíno (PCO), Rosi Aires (PSOL), and Farah Mesquita (Solidariedade)—have had their registrations officially judged. The court has until September 14 to complete these analyses.

Simultaneously, the Roraima State Government and the Legislative Assembly have appealed to the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to block the candidacy of former state deputy Jalser Renier (PSDB). They are challenging a preliminary injunction by Minister Nunes Marques that suspended the effects of Renier's previous disqualification, which would allow him to run in the 2026 elections. The state government argues that allowing his participation based on a temporary injunction creates legal insecurity, particularly regarding the proportional calculation of seats in the Legislative Assembly.
