Rosalie Thomass debuts as new detective in Franken Tatort

Actress Rosalie Thomass has joined the long-running German crime series ‘Tatort’ as Chief Inspector Emilia ‘Emmy’ Rathgeber. Her debut episode, ‘Gottesgarten’, aired on October 25, 2026, marking a new era for the Franken-based production following the departure of Dagmar Manzel.

In her first case, Thomass’s character partners with existing investigator Felix Voss, played by Fabian Hinrichs, to investigate the murder of a drag artist named Elias Schaller. The investigation leads the team from a Nuremberg hourly hotel to the Upper Franconian region, exploring themes of empathy, tolerance, and the long-term consequences of sexual abuse.

Thomass noted that she had the opportunity to help develop the character of Rathgeber, aiming to create a figure that is empathetic and multifaceted. She also highlighted the strong professional chemistry with her co-star Hinrichs during the production.
