Rosario introduces first 100% electric taxi

The city of Rosario has officially introduced its first 100% electric taxi, marking a transition toward sustainable urban mobility. The vehicle, owned by driver José Antonio Iantosca, features a declared autonomy of 385 kilometers per charge and produces zero emissions.

Mayor Pablo Javkin presented the unit alongside municipal and provincial officials, noting that this initiative follows the recent addition of a plug-in hybrid vehicle to the local private car service (remise). The expansion of electric transport in the city is supported by a credit line from the Government of Santa Fe, totaling 4,000 million pesos, which offers subsidized rates through various banks to help drivers renew their fleets.

According to municipal reports, ten additional electric vehicles are expected to enter service soon, with another 15 units currently in the process of being awarded or under study. This transition aligns with the Rosario 2030 Local Climate Action Plan and provincial laws promoting the industrialization of electric vehicles.
