Rosario proposes QR-code parking payments; San Rafael to exempt Malvinas veterans

The municipal council of Rosario introduced a proposal to add QR codes to street‑side parking signs, allowing drivers to scan and pay for measured parking directly from their phones without downloading an app. Councilwoman Fernanda Gigliani said the system would "allow users to scan directly from their phones and access the payment platform immediately, without the need to download an application," citing similar low‑cost solutions already in use in Córdoba and Santa Rosa.

In San Rafael, the city council is debating an ordinance that would waive the measured‑parking fee for Argentine veterans of the 1982 Malvinas War. The measure would let eligible veterans exempt from payment by registering a vehicle they own. The proposal follows comparable initiatives in Salta, Jujuy and Mendoza and is presented as a symbolic act of gratitude with minimal impact on municipal finances.
