Rosario proposes regulation for Uber and DiDi mobility platforms

The municipality of Rosario has submitted a project to the Municipal Council to regulate mobility platforms such as Uber and DiDi. The initiative aims to incorporate these digital services into the local regulatory framework, establishing specific requirements for drivers, vehicles, and companies.

Under the proposal, drivers would be required to hold professional licenses and specific insurance for the activity. For pricing, the project suggests a flexible tariff system with a minimum floor equivalent to a public bus fare, but without a set maximum price. This differs from the current taxi and remise regulations, which maintain fixed rates.

Council President María Eugenia Schmuk stated that the regulation is a response to a reality that can no longer be ignored, noting that legalization aims to increase passenger security and allow drivers to work with greater legal certainty. Additionally, if approved, the project would allow taxis and remises to expand their services to include delivery tasks.
