Rosatom completes 15 RITM-200 nuclear reactors for Arctic use

Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev has reported the completion of 15 RITM-200 nuclear reactors to President Vladimir Putin. These next-generation pressurized water reactors (PWR) feature a thermal capacity of 175 MW and utilize an integrated design that places steam generators inside the reactor vessel to reduce volume and weight.

Two of these reactors have already been installed on the nuclear-powered icebreaker ‘Leningrad’ under Project 22220, designed to navigate thick Arctic ice. The remaining 13 units are in various stages of manufacturing and completion to support both the icebreaker fleet and infrastructure energy projects in remote regions.
