Rose Mbithe and two children charged with murder of Dr. Victoria Mutiso
Machakos politician Rose Mbithe, her two children, Angela and Chris Mulwa, and Police Constable Elijah Kibelion Kimoi have been charged with the murder of psychiatrist Dr. Victoria Mutiso. The charges relate to the fatal shooting of Dr. Mutiso on July 29, 2026, in Kilimani, Nairobi.
During proceedings at the Milimani Law Courts, Justice Kanyi Kimondo directed that the four suspects undergo mental assessments before formally answering the charges. The prosecution alleges the suspects acted jointly with others to kill Dr. Mutiso, a former Director of the African Institute of Mental and Brain Health.
In a related development at the Mavoko Law Court, a seven-day deadline was set for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to conclude investigations regarding allegations involving a Range Rover and a 21-acre property linked to the deceased. The court ruled that if the prosecution fails to make a decision within this period, Angela Mulwa and Nelson Masiga will be released unconditionally. Masiga has requested to be admitted as a state witness.
Investigators reported recovering spent cartridges and bullet fragments from the scene, which forensic examination linked to a recovered Mini Jericho pistol.
