Rosemary Kimwatu, KCB Bank executive, death confirmed as suicide

An autopsy has confirmed that Rosemary Chemutai Koech Kimwatu, the 40-year-old Head of Data Protection at KCB Bank Group, died by suicide. Her body was discovered at a house in Ngong, Kajiado County.

Investigations into the death have highlighted significant marital and financial distress. While some reports initially suggested work-related stress, family members and associates have pointed to prolonged domestic disputes. Kimwatu’s mother reported that the deceased had expressed frustration over financing her husband’s lifestyle and home construction while he remained unemployed, leading to substantial debt.

Additional accounts from a close friend suggest the marriage was abusive, alleging that Kimwatu had been forced out of her matrimonial home and into a rented residence prior to her death. The deceased had reportedly exhibited unusual behavior and distress following a professional seminar in Mombasa, which led to her seeking medical attention.
