Rotary Clubs in Nigeria Deliver Maternal Aid and Call for Better Healthcare
In Lagos, the Rotary Club of Festac Town provided a baby cot, care kits for an abandoned infant and delivery kits for 60 expectant mothers at the Amuwo Odofin Maternal and Child Centre, saying the items were needed for "optimum care" as part of its Maternal and Child Care month.
In Abuja, the Rotary Club of Abuja Federal urged the federal government to improve primary health‑care facilities, highlighting missing medicines, inadequate infrastructure and unreliable electricity. President Ismail‑Adeleye Ibrahim noted, "We realised that because there is no electricity, patients requiring simple tests, including malaria diagnosis, are often referred elsewhere," adding that the club is exploring generators or solar power while calling on officials to partner with NGOs to reduce costs for patients.
