Royal Caribbean Group to acquire 50% stake in Sandals Resorts

Royal Caribbean Group has signed an agreement to acquire a 50 percent equity stake in Sandals and Beaches Resorts for approximately US$3 billion. This landmark deal, which values Sandals Resorts International at roughly US$6 billion, establishes a joint venture that marks the cruise operator’s first major expansion into the land-based, all-inclusive resort market.

The partnership will be governed by a joint board co-led by Royal Caribbean Group Chairman and CEO Jason Liberty and Sandals Executive Chairman Adam Stewart. The Stewart family will retain the remaining 50 percent equity stake in the venture. The transaction, which is expected to close in early 2027, is being financed through debt secured by Morgan Stanley.

The joint venture aims to integrate Royal Caribbean’s global vacation platform—which includes brands like Celebrity Cruises and Silversea—with the Caribbean hospitality expertise of Sandals and Beaches. The companies plan to explore cross-selling opportunities, connect loyalty programs, and broaden distribution to create a more seamless vacation experience spanning both sea and land.
