Royal Enfield expands production capacity to 2.45 million units and unveils 2026 Interceptor 650

Royal Enfield announced plans to raise its annual manufacturing capacity to about 2.45 million motorcycles by FY 30, up from the current ~1.5 million. The expansion will be driven by a new greenfield plant in Andhra Pradesh, a continued brownfield upgrade at its Cheyyar facility in Tamil Nadu that now produces over 5,000 units daily, and a potential completely knocked‑down (CKD) assembly operation in Indonesia. The company’s board approved a Rs 1,225 crore investment for the first phase of the Andhra Pradesh project, which is expected to add roughly 450,000 motorcycles to capacity. CEO B. Govindarajan said the move aims to meet rising demand and reduce reliance on import quotas for the ASEAN market.

The firm also detailed the 2026 model year of its Interceptor 650, highlighting a retro‑inspired design, a 648 cc parallel‑twin engine delivering 47 hp, LED headlamp, USB charging, and optional alloy wheels. The motorcycle remains a benchmark in the 650 cc segment, targeting both new and experienced riders with a price‑to‑value proposition backed by a three‑year/40,000 km warranty and nationwide service.
