Royal Enfield launches Himalayan 440 adventure motorcycle

Royal Enfield has launched the Himalayan 440 in India as the successor to the Himalayan 411. The new model features a 443cc air- and oil-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 25.4 hp and 34 Nm of torque. A significant mechanical upgrade is the inclusion of a six-speed gearbox, replacing the five-speed unit found on the previous 411 model to improve highway performance.

In the Indian market, the Himalayan 440 is priced at Rs 2.29 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it against competitors like the Yezdi Adventure, which starts at Rs 2.09 lakh. While the Yezdi Adventure utilizes a smaller 334cc liquid-cooled engine that produces higher horsepower (29.6 hp), the Himalayan 440 offers higher torque at a lower RPM, which may benefit low-speed and off-road riding.

The Himalayan 440 maintains a focus on accessibility with an 800mm seat height and a 15-litre fuel tank. It also features updated braking components, including dual-channel ABS with a disconnectable rear function.
