Royal Enfield launches Himalayan 440 adventure motorcycle

Royal Enfield has officially launched the Himalayan 440 in India, marking the tenth anniversary of the Himalayan brand. Unveiled at the Himalayan Basecamp in Leh, Ladakh, the new model is positioned as a more accessible and uncomplicated adventure tourer compared to the liquid-cooled Himalayan 450.

The motorcycle features a 443cc single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine that produces 25.4 bhp and 34 Nm of torque. It introduces a six-speed transmission to replace the five-speed gearbox found on the previous 411cc version. The design draws heavy inspiration from the original Himalayan 411, maintaining an upright stance, rugged bodywork, and a 21-inch front wheel.

Key specifications include a 15-litre fuel tank, 800mm seat height, and 220mm ground clearance. The bike is equipped with dual-channel ABS, with the option to switch off the rear ABS. Modern features include an LED headlight, a semi-digital instrument cluster with a Tripper navigation pod for Google Maps-powered turn-by-turn directions, and a USB Type-C charging port. The Himalayan 440 is available in three colors: Mustang Brown, Nelong White, and Sela Black, with an introductory price of Rs 2.29 lakh (ex-showroom).
