Royal Society of Canada announces 2026 Class of Fellows

The Royal Society of Canada (RSC) has announced its 2026 Class of Fellows and College Members, honoring 159 distinguished scholars, artists, and scientists. The group includes 105 newly elected Fellows, representing Canada’s highest honors in the sciences, social sciences, humanities, and arts, as well as 54 members elected to the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists.

Among the honorees are researchers from the University of British Columbia (UBC) Faculty of Science, including Drs. Colin Brauner, Claire Kremen, and Xin Li, who were recognized for work in sustainable agriculture, fish adaptation, and plant immune response. Dr. Julian Olden, a freshwater ecologist, was also named to the 2026 class.

RSC President Françoise Baylis noted that the inductees' work covers diverse fields such as medicine, technology, climate research, literature, and reconciliation efforts. The official induction ceremony is scheduled for November 13, 2026, in Ottawa.
