RTS Link nears completion for Singapore-Johor Bahru transit

The Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link is nearing completion, with passenger services targeted to begin by the end of 2026. Recent previews of the station facilities have highlighted features such as luggage scanners, travelators, spacious walkways, and multiple service counters designed to facilitate movement between the two countries.

While progress on the Malaysian side, including the Bukit Chagar station, has been highly visible through regular updates, observers note a difference in communication styles between the two nations. Singapore’s updates from the Land Transport Authority and the Ministry of Transport have typically focused on major project milestones. As of mid-2025, rail-system works—including tracks, signaling, and power supply—were reported to be approximately 56% complete.

Public discussion regarding the project has centered on the convenience of the upcoming service and concerns regarding eventual ticket pricing for regular commuters.
