RTV SLO considers Slovenia’s return to Eurovision 2027

RTV SLO, Slovenia’s public broadcaster, is currently evaluating whether the country will participate in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, which is scheduled to be hosted in Bulgaria. The broadcaster has not yet made a final decision, with a conclusion expected in the autumn following the adoption of the upcoming programming and production plan.

Slovenia previously withdrew from the 2026 competition and declined to broadcast the event, citing concerns regarding Israel’s participation and its alignment with values of peace and equality. This decision drew mixed reactions from the public, including criticism from viewers who viewed Eurovision as a vital cultural event.

Reports suggest that a shifting political landscape in Slovenia may influence the broadcaster’s stance. A potential change in government, with a shift toward more pro-Western and pro-Israel leadership, could provide a pathway for the country to rejoin the competition and move away from previous cultural boycott initiatives.
