RTVE launches Cultura RTVE channel on Spanish DTT on Nov 5

Spain’s public broadcaster RTVE will add a sixth digital terrestrial television (DTT) channel on 5 November, broadcasting in Ultra HD. The new channel, called Cultura RTVE, will run alongside the newly created La Séptima.

Cultura RTVE will focus on cultural programming, including documentaries, series, films, theater productions and concerts. Content will be previewed on the online platform RTVE Play and will draw from the ARTE.tv catalogue. The channel’s editorial direction is led by veteran journalist Ana Peláez, while RTVE president José Pablo López highlighted the project as a long‑awaited expansion of the corporation’s cultural offering.

The launch aims to diversify Spain’s DTT lineup, which has been dominated by series‑rebroadcast channels, and aligns the public broadcaster with similar specialist channels in other European public‑service networks.
