Ruben Onsu and Sarwendah Face First Custody Hearing in Jakarta

The first hearing in the custody dispute between Indonesian entertainer Ruben Onsu and his former wife Sarwendah was held on 15 July 2026 at the South Jakarta District Court (PN Jakarta Selatan). The session focused on verifying the identities of the parties and appointing a mediator, with no substantive discussion of the custody issues.

Sarwendah attended the hearing in person, accompanied by her lawyer Chris Sam Siwu, and reiterated that her primary concern is the happiness and well‑being of their three children. Ruben Onsu was not present; his legal team, led by lawyer Minola Sebayang, explained that he was unable to attend due to work commitments and that he remains represented in court.

Ruben’s counsel said he is seeking legal certainty over custody and more regular contact with his children, while also expressing willingness to settle the matter through mediation if an agreement can be reached. A mediator has been appointed and future mediation dates will be set after both sides coordinate.
