Rubén de la Barrera faces uncertain future at UD Las Palmas

The future of UD Las Palmas manager Rubén de la Barrera is uncertain following a 3-1 defeat against Mallorca. The team has failed to secure a victory in four matches, leaving them just three points above the relegation zone.

While the coach has acknowledged the volatile nature of football, stating, “I understand everything in football,” critics suggest the crisis extends beyond his leadership. Player Jonathan Viera has indicated that the manager bears the least responsibility for the current slump.

Reports highlight systemic issues within the club, including poor squad planning by Luis Helguera and the loss of key players. The departure of goalkeeper Horkas and defenders Mika Mármol and Sergio Barcia has left significant gaps in the roster that have not been adequately addressed. If de la Barrera is not dismissed this week, his position will face a decisive test in the upcoming match against Castellón.
