UD Las Palmas coaching stability concerns

Overview

UD Las Palmas coach Rubén de la Barrera faces increasing uncertainty following a 3-1 defeat against Mallorca. This loss contributed to a four-match winless streak, leaving the team only three points above the relegation zone.

While de la Barrera acknowledged the volatile nature of the sport, stating, ‘I understand everything in football,’ the crisis has prompted debate regarding the root causes of the slump. Player Jonathan Viera suggested that the manager bears the least responsibility for the team’s current form. Instead, reports point toward systemic issues and poor squad planning by Luis Helguera, specifically noting that the departures of goalkeeper Horkas and defenders Mika Mármol and Sergio Barcia have left unaddressed gaps in the roster.

If de la Barrera is not dismissed this week, his position will face a decisive test in the upcoming match against Castellón.
