Rubén Vardanian’s case to be filed at the European Court of Human Rights

Armenian former deputy prime minister Rubén Vardanian, detained in Baku, will have his case presented to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in the coming weeks, according to human‑rights lawyer Sirunush Sahakyan. Sahakyan said the full text of Vardanian’s judgment has been obtained, allowing the filing without waiting for Azerbaijan’s appellate decision, which the court had previously required by August 31.

Sahakyan also noted that the judgments for the other 15 Armenian refugees held in Azerbaijani prisons have not yet been provided by Baku, preventing their legal representatives from accessing the details needed for international appeals. She added that once those judgments become available, the ECHR filings for those cases will follow.
