Poland reports rise in traffic accidents and violations

Poland is seeing a rise in traffic-related incidents and law enforcement actions across various regions. Pedestrian safety remains a critical concern, with statistics showing 240 accidents involving pedestrians this year, resulting in 14 deaths and 437 injuries.

Police reports highlight a surge in violations involving young drivers and modern electric vehicles. Incidents include a 14-year-old operating an illegal electric cross with passengers, an 18-year-old driving without a valid license, and a 24-year-old fleeing police on an electric scooter. Additionally, a 25-year-old was fined for modifying an electric scooter to reach speeds of 50 km/h.

Serious offenses involving alcohol and speeding continue to lead to legal consequences. A 60-year-old driver in Krakow was sentenced for driving with nearly 2 per mille of alcohol in his blood, while a motorcyclist in Ostroleka received a heavy fine and license suspension for excessive speeding. In Jełowa, a 34-year-old with a lifetime driving ban was caught driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Tragic accidents also occurred, including a fatal quad bike accident on a private off-road track in Ignalina and a vehicle rollover on the S5 route near Bydgoszcz.
