Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand faces rising river levels amid heavy rains

Heavy rainfall in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, caused river and stream levels to rise rapidly, including the Punan Gadhera at the district headquarters. The surge created fear among residents and disrupted normal life, prompting the district administration and municipal authorities to issue alerts, advise people to stay away from riverbanks, and relocate to safer areas if needed.

Authorities placed the district on high alert, deployed surveillance teams, and used loudspeakers to broadcast safety instructions. The District Disaster Management Officer, Nandan Singh Rajwar, warned pilgrims at nearby Kedarnath Dham to avoid riverbanks and announced that the District Magistrate had prohibited trekking on certain routes due to the hazardous conditions.
