Rumen Radev to meet EU Council President Antonio Costa

Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev is set to meet with European Council President Antonio Costa at the Boyana residence. The meeting is part of Costa’s tour of European capitals to gather perspectives ahead of key EU decisions. Central to their discussions will be the European Union’s next multi-annual financial framework, alongside topics such as defense, competitiveness, EU enlargement, and support for Ukraine.

Separately, Tsoncho Ganev of the Vazrazhdane party has criticized Radev’s administration, claiming that recent actions are debunking the myth of the Prime Minister being pro-Russian. Ganev cited the government’s support for new sanctions against Russia and the parliamentary rejection of a proposal to negotiate with the European Commission regarding the purchase of Russian oil as evidence of this shift. Ganev argued that the decision to criminalize sanctions violations could also impact the Bulgarian tourism sector.
