Ciudad Juárez reports infrastructure damage and unusual border crossing delays

In Ciudad Juárez, a major traffic incident on Avenida Antonio J. Bermúdez caused significant infrastructure damage. A heavy truck reportedly snagged telephone wiring, triggering a domino effect that toppled approximately ten light poles, including seven on the public road and others within a nearby maquiladora facility. While two private vehicles were damaged by falling cables and poles, no injuries were reported. Emergency services, including firefighters and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), are working to clear the debris and restore services in the industrial zone.

Separately, international border crossings between Ciudad Juárez and El Paso have seen an unusual and sudden drop in traffic. Wait times at major bridges, such as the Bridge of the Americas and Paso del Norte, fell to as little as 10 to 15 minutes, a sharp contrast to previous delays of up to two and a half hours. Travelers attribute this sudden emptiness not to decreased demand, but to widespread anxiety regarding new, stricter inspection protocols, specifically rumors concerning mandatory visa presentations for travelers' children.
