Ružomberok bypass opens with new D1 motorway section

The new D1 motorway section between Hubová and Ivachnová is being opened to motorists on Monday. This nearly 15-kilometer stretch serves as a bypass for the city of Ružomberok and connects to the existing four-lane motorway heading toward Košice.

The project includes 19 bridges, three intersections, and the 3.6-kilometer Čebrať tunnel. According to Filip Macháček, Director General of the National Highway Company (NDS), the road is expected to be fully operational by the evening following police inspections. The bypass is intended to reduce transit traffic, noise, and smog within Ružomberok, potentially saving drivers several dozen minutes during peak hours.
