Rupert Lowe's Inquiry Finds 250,000 UK Girls Victims of Grooming Gangs
An independent, crowdfunded inquiry chaired by MP Rupert Lowe released a 219‑page report estimating that up to 250,000 white British girls have been sexually exploited over several decades by predominantly Pakistani Muslim grooming gangs. The report says the abuse occurred in at least 149 local‑authority districts across the United Kingdom and involved systematic patterns of gifts, drugs, forced pregnancies, trafficking and even forced conversions.
The inquiry accuses police, social services, health providers and schools of widespread failure, citing examples such as police returning victims to abusive homes and NHS staff discharging seriously injured children without safeguarding referrals. It calls for a specialist national prosecutor, life‑sentence minimums, deportations of perpetrators, a ban on sharia marriages and a task‑force to locate girls allegedly trafficked abroad.
Political reactions have followed. Elon Musk responded to the report with a brief “Yes.” supporting calls for Nuremberg‑style trials, while Nigel Farage urged a parliamentary inquiry. Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other officials have faced criticism for perceived inaction. The report has intensified pressure on the UK government to overhaul child‑protection laws and pursue the alleged offenders.
