Ruse lung hospital launches free tuberculosis screening campaign

The Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment of Pneumo-Phthisiatric Diseases in Ruse is conducting a free tuberculosis screening campaign from September 14 to September 25. This initiative, held four times a year, is part of the National Program for Disease Prevention until 2030 and is being implemented with the support of the Regional Health Inspection in Ruse.

Screenings are available on weekdays from 09:00 to 12:00 and include questionnaires, medical examinations, and consultations. If necessary, specialists will perform additional tests such as the Mantoux test and chest X-rays. Interested individuals can register via telephone at 082/813964 or 082/813900.

Regional health officials noted that tuberculosis incidence in the Ruse region is currently below the national average, with a declining trend in both morbidity and mortality. Nationally, registered tuberculosis cases in Bulgaria have decreased from 1,872 in 2014 to 913 in 2024.
