Russell Brand appears in court for sexual assault trial hearings
Comedian and actor Russell Brand arrived at Southwark Crown Court on Tuesday for pre-trial hearings regarding allegations of rape and sexual assault. Brand, 51, has pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape, three charges of sexual assault, and one allegation of indecent assault.
The allegations involve six women and incidents spanning from 1999 to 2009. Specific accusations include the rape of a woman in a hotel room during a Labour Party conference in Bournemouth, as well as incidents involving a TV worker and a radio station worker. Brand denies all allegations of non-consensual sexual activity.
The two-day legal argument is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, with the full trial expected to begin on Monday, October 12. The proceedings are anticipated to last up to 10 weeks. Brand is currently out on bail.
