Russia and NATO exchange conflicting stances on Ukraine war and territory

Russian official Dmitry Medvedev has issued sharp rhetoric regarding the conflict in Ukraine, claiming the country has lost approximately 20 percent of its territory and half of its population. Speaking at a United Russia congress in Moscow, Medvedev expressed intentions for further territorial expansion, stating that more land will come under Russian control.

In response to the ongoing conflict, NATO Military Committee Chairman Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone met with the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mikhail Drapatyi. Dragone reaffirmed NATO’s commitment to providing continuous military support and noted that allies in Europe and North America are increasing defense industry production to accelerate equipment deliveries.

Drapatyi highlighted the urgent need for air defense and discussed tactical priorities, including long-range strikes and frontline automation. He emphasized that Ukraine is not only receiving aid but is also sharing unique combat experience with its allies. A NATO Military Committee visit to Ukraine is expected in October, marking the first such visit in eight years.
