Russia and Ukraine escalate drone and missile warfare
A massive escalation in aerial warfare has occurred between Russia and Ukraine, marked by large-scale drone strikes and retaliatory missile attacks. Ukraine launched one of its most significant drone offensives to date, targeting the Moscow region with at least 600 drones. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported shooting down 822 drones across the country. In response to the ongoing aggression, EU High Representative Kaja Kallas announced plans to increase the number of sanctioned Russian individuals and entities by one-third this autumn, describing it as the most ambitious sanctions list since the start of the war.
