Vilnius Airport closed following unidentified drone alarm

Vilnius Airport in Lithuania was temporarily closed following reports of an unidentified flying object, suspected to be a drone, potentially arriving from Belarus. In response to the air alarm, NATO fighter jets engaged in the Baltic Air Policing mission were scrambled to investigate the situation. Lithuanian authorities, including the National Crisis Management Center, are working to identify the object, though they noted that reports from citizens have not yet been officially confirmed by radar.

In a related development regarding regional security, Ukrainian officials reported that Belarus is providing technical support to Russian drone attacks on western Ukraine. This support reportedly includes components used to strengthen drone signals near the Polish border.

Additionally, European security services have linked a drone-related incident at Leipzig/Halle airport in Germany to a broader Russian GRU-led sabotage campaign across the continent. Meanwhile, in Ukraine, military strikes have successfully targeted the infrastructure and supplies of the elite Russian 'Rubikon' drone unit near Volnovakha.
