Russia Boosts Inter‑Parliamentary Ties with South Africa and Angola

In July 2026 State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin met Refilwe Mtshweni‑Tsipane, chair of South Africa’s National Council of Provinces, in Moscow. The talks focused on strengthening inter‑parliamentary cooperation, promoting investment and expanding economic interaction, echoing the 2023 Russia‑Africa summit declaration that called for deeper parliamentary links.

The Russian delegation also hosted an Angolan parliamentary group led by Deputy Chairman Alexander Babakov. Both sides highlighted the “principles of friendship, non‑interference and mutual respect” and stressed that, despite Western sanctions, cooperation can enhance trust and further bilateral relations across the continent.
