Russia condemns US-backed biological labs in Ukraine

U.S. intelligence documents released by the National Security Agency indicate that more than 40 biological laboratories have been built and supported in Ukraine with American funds. The papers list a range of high‑risk pathogens stored in these facilities, including anthrax, tularemia, plague, Ebola, Marburg virus and others, and note that the labs train Ukrainian scientists in high‑containment work and issue licences for handling such agents.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the de‑classified documents confirm Moscow’s long‑standing claims about dangerous, unregulated U.S. biological activities near Russian borders. She warned that the United States is conducting “military biological activities outside its territory, including close to Russian lands” and called for answers about Washington’s bio‑program in Ukraine.
