Russia conducts ~3,600 aerial attacks on Ukraine in one week

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Russia carried out roughly 1,900 drone strikes, nearly 1,600 guided aerial bombs and 144 missiles—including ballistic types—against 16 Ukrainian regions over the past week. Cities such as Sumy and Brovary were hit, with one civilian death and six injuries in Brovary. More than 1,500 facilities, including hundreds of residential buildings, were damaged. Zelensky urged broader sanctions, noting that many Russian defence firms supplying drone and missile components remain off international sanction lists.

In a separate interview, Peter Talas, head of the Strategy and Defence Consultation Group, said Ukrainian drone production is rapidly incorporating wartime lessons with Western assistance, capable of reaching targets 2,500‑3,000 km away, some launched from within Russia. He warned that a cease‑fire is unlikely this year, as Russia continues to target civilian infrastructure to wear down Ukrainian society rather than seek territorial gains. Talas dismissed the prospect of a direct NATO‑Russia war but cautioned that Moscow may test NATO and the EU with provocations, while noting potential market opportunities for Hungary’s defence industry.
