Russia denies mobilization plans as Ukraine faces new maritime attacks

Russian National Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitri Medvedev said that reports of a new mobilization are "lies of the enemy" and claimed that about 200,000 volunteers had already signed up for the war effort, stating there is no need for further conscription. He also noted that recent fuel restrictions in several Russian regions, including Moscow and St. Petersburg, have been eased.

In the United Kingdom, newly elected Prime Minister Andy Burnham welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and promised to provide the Ukrainian army with new equipment. At the same time, a cargo vessel, the "Golden Leo" sailing under the flag of Guinea‑Bissau, sank after a Russian missile strike near the Ukrainian port of Odessa, killing nine crew members and rescuing eight. Russian officials said they had also struck a container terminal in the nearby port of Tschornomorsk, disrupting grain shipments that are vital for Ukraine's export supplies.
