Russia faces fuel shortages as station availability drops to 28%

Fuel availability in Russia has dropped significantly, with only 28% of gas stations listed in the ‘GdeBenz’ app reporting available gasoline or diesel. This is a sharp decline from 41% reported just one week prior.

Shortages and long queues have been reported in numerous regions, including Volgograd, Chelyabinsk, Orenburg, Voronezh, Samara, Penza, Saratov, Lipetsk, Rostov, and Tatarstan. In the Moscow region, investigations found limited availability of various octane grades, with some reports indicating only two out of ten visited stations were functional.

Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev acknowledged the formation of queues at stations but maintained that fuel remains available and stated the government is working to resolve the issue. The crisis is partly attributed to Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil infrastructure.
