Russia implements 30-day visa waiver for Vietnamese citizens
Starting October 15, 2026, Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed Decree No. 730, granting Vietnamese citizens holding ordinary passports visa-free entry into Russia. The policy allows for stays of up to 30 days per trip and is effective until October 15, 2027.
The waiver applies to various purposes, including tourism, visiting relatives, business, transit, and participation in scientific, cultural, political, economic, or sporting events. However, the exemption does not cover individuals entering for labor, journalism, or long-term study.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through spokesperson Pham Thu Hang, welcomed the decision, noting it aligns with the joint statement to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations. Travel industry experts, including the Association of Tour Operator Companies (ATOR), predict a 25-30% increase in Vietnamese tourists to Russia due to the simplified procedures.
