Russia and Ukraine exchange heavy overnight drone and missile strikes
Russia and Ukraine engaged in heavy overnight aerial combat involving large numbers of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that its air defense systems intercepted 244 Ukrainian drones over 19 Russian regions and the Black Sea. Additionally, Russian forces claimed to have downed another 125 drones over the Kharkiv and Sumy regions.
In response, Russian forces conducted strikes against Ukrainian military infrastructure. These attacks targeted logistics centers, warehouses, and energy facilities in the Kyiv and Odessa regions. A cargo vessel transporting military supplies was also hit near the port of Odessa.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russian strikes hit ten Ukrainian regions, resulting in at least one death and eight injuries. Significant damage was reported in Zaporizhzhia, where residential buildings, a university, and a shopping mall were hit. In the Kharkiv region, a drone strike killed one woman and injured three others.
