Russia prepares new recruitment waves following Duma elections

Following the recent Duma elections and Vladimir Putin's victory, concerns are rising regarding a potential new wave of mobilization in Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that Moscow may be preparing extensive recruitment efforts to offset massive military losses.

To minimize domestic unrest, reports suggest Russia is targeting foreign nationals, including migrant workers from former Soviet states such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as individuals from various African nations. These recruits are reportedly lured with promises of money or expedited citizenship, often under the guise of civilian employment.

Additionally, there are indications that North Korean forces are being integrated into the conflict, with expectations that 10,000 soldiers may join the 8,000 already active. Amidst these developments, some young Russians are reportedly fleeing to neighboring Georgia to avoid forced conscription, echoing a refugee wave seen at the start of the invasion in 2022.
