Russia reaffirms peace stance and energy commitment to India
Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov has stated that Moscow and New Delhi are “on the same page” regarding the necessity of peace and dialogue to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Alipov asserted that Russia is prepared for peace talks, but claimed the “ball is in Ukraine’s court” as Kyiv and its allies seek to continue the conflict.
These remarks follow a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin. During their discussion, Modi emphasized India's support for peace efforts, stating that every day spent in war “sets humanity back” and urging a move toward an end to the conflict.
Addressing economic relations, Alipov reaffirmed Russia's commitment to meeting India's energy requirements, stating Moscow is ready to supply as much oil as the country needs. He criticized Western secondary sanctions and tariffs as “pressure tactics” intended to disrupt trade, while praising India's ability to defend its national interests and maintain an independent foreign policy.
