Russia rejects Black Sea ceasefire proposals amid intensified strikes

Russia has rejected proposals for a ceasefire in the Black Sea, including a suggestion from Turkey to halt attacks on commercial shipping. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that a limited ceasefire would only provide Ukraine with breathing space to rearm, and noted that an official proposal from Turkey has not yet reached the Kremlin.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also rejected the idea of freezing combat along current front lines, asserting that Russia will intensify efforts to destroy Western military support for Ukraine.

In the Sumy region, Russian drone strikes killed a 29-year-old mother and her 9-year-old son, destroying their home. Additionally, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported strikes on the railway station at the Ukrainian port of Izmail, claiming the facility is used for military logistics.

Separately, reports indicate that Ukraine has halted intensive drone attacks on oil tankers near the Russian port of Novorossiysk. This shift follows a request from U.S. Vice President JD Vance to prevent disruptions in global oil markets and protect the interests of American energy companies, such as Chevron and ExxonMobil, which hold stakes in regional pipelines.
