Russia strikes Odessa drone facility and energy infrastructure

Russian forces have conducted strikes against Ukrainian energy and logistics infrastructure. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, attacks targeted four energy facilities in the Odessa region and the port of Odessa, specifically hitting a testing facility for unmanned surface vessels and six fuel storage tanks used by the Ukrainian military.

Additionally, Russian drones reportedly struck the “Chaiky” logistics center in the Kyiv region, operated by Alfa Development Group. Russia claims this site was used to distribute dual-use foreign goods, including components for medium and long-range UAVs.

Separately, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian energy assets and oil refineries are contributing to a global energy shock and rising living costs in the United States. While Bessent cited these strikes alongside conflicts in Iran as drivers of price volatility, some Ukrainian officials have contested the scale of this impact, suggesting other geopolitical factors play a larger role in market fluctuations.
