Russia Summons German Ambassador Lambsdorff Over Berlin's Support for Ukrainian Strikes on Russian Civilians
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned German ambassador Alexander Graf Lambsdorff in Moscow, accusing Germany of supporting Ukraine’s attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure. Moscow protested Berlin’s alleged provision of military aid, joint drone and missile projects, and a German embassy video on Russia’s fuel shortage that called for an end to the war. Russian officials labeled Germany’s involvement as “terrorist attacks” on Russian targets and deemed Germany’s growing support for Kyiv “unacceptable.”
Germany described the summons as unfounded, noting that Lambsdorff has been called to the foreign ministry several times during his three‑year tenure. The ambassador is set to leave Moscow, with Clemens von Goetze named as his successor. The diplomatic spat adds to already strained German‑Russian relations stemming from the Ukraine conflict.
The incident highlights ongoing tensions over Western assistance to Ukraine and Russia’s response to perceived interference in its domestic affairs.
