Russia targets southern border crossings near Romania and Ukraine
Russian forces have intensified attacks on logistical infrastructure in the Odessa region, targeting operational border control points to pressure Ukraine's neighbors and disrupt exports. Between August 20 and September 6, four key control points in the southern border zone were targeted.
Specific incidents include drone strikes on the Reni-Giurgiulești crossing affecting cargo transport, and attacks on the Tabaki-Mirnoie and Vinogradovka-Vulcănești points. The Orlovka-Isaccea ferry crossing, which serves as the sole connection to Romania, was struck on September 1 and faced a subsequent attack on September 6, causing temporary suspensions of operations.
President Zelenskyy noted that representatives from the United States have indicated that Russian forces may be prepared to negotiate.
